According to a Russian news media, Lenovo is planning to launch a Windows Phone 8 powered smartphone later this year. Lenovo, the Chinese tech giant is planning to release 40 new phone models in the market later this year, of course mostly Android, to boost its sales in the market.
Lenovo is currently the fourth largest smartphone maker in China and looking to increase their market share by introducing more options to the customers. J’Son & Partners, a consulting firm in Russia, said that Lenovo has not yet formed its brand effect in the mobile phone market. The company needs to first enhance its strength in marketing, advertising, and brand promotion to gain more market share.
In addition, Liu Jun, senior vice president for Lenovo Group, revealed that Lenovo is currently discussing with resellers in Germany and Japan for the introduction of Lenovo smartphones; however, no real progress was disclosed.
It is also said earlier that with Nokia Lumia gaining popularity over the market has also created interest in other smartphone manufacturers to introduce new Windows Phone powered models in the market.
A leaked video earlier this week features the Sony’s Windows Phone codenamed as ‘Julie’ in the making. The phone will be expected to launch in the third quarter of this year.
And Microsoft all set to preview the next generation of Windows Phone OS, codenamed Windows Phone 8 ‘Apollo’ on June 20th also confirms the sooner availability of Lenovo’s Windows Phone 8 in the market.
As we all knows that the smartphones are the future of electronics market, Lenovo is also trying the build a momentum to give head to head to the leaders of this industry. Till now, none of the Lenovo’s Smartphone is able to create any buzz in the international market but let’s see what it holds for the future.
