Windows vista introduced a new program called Windows DVD Maker which is carried forward by Microsoft in Windows 7 also with some new features and facilities. In this article I am explaining about the DVD maker Project file.
A Windows DVD Maker project file contains information about the video, pictures, and audio files that you’ve added into Windows DVD Maker as well as the menu style and other customizations you might have made for the current DVD.
You can save a project for a work in progress or for a DVD that you’ve already burned in Windows DVD Maker (as long as you save the project before closing Windows DVD Maker). Later on, you can open the project file, make changes if you want and then burn the project to a DVD. Follow these steps to perform following tasks:
- Click on Start button, go to All Programs and then open Windows DVD Maker.
- On the Turn your digital memories into a DVD page, click Choose Photos and Videos.
Follow the two steps stated above before performing any of the following tasks:
To start a new project
- On the Add pictures and video to the DVD page, click File and then click New.
You can work on only one project at a time in Windows DVD Maker.
To save a project
- After you make changes in Windows DVD Maker, click File, and then click Save.
- In the File name box, type a file name for the project and then click Save.
A saved Windows DVD Maker project file has an .msdvd file name extension.
To open a project file
- On the Add pictures and video to the DVD page, click File, and then click Open project file.
- Open the folder that contains the Windows DVD Maker project file you want to open.
- Click the project file, and then click Open.
- Continue in Windows DVD Maker as you normally would to create and burn a DVD.
To save a project with a new name
- On the Add pictures and video to the DVD page, click File, click Open project file, click a Windows DVD Maker project file you want to open, and then click Open.
- Click File, and then click Save as.
- In the File name box, type a new file name, and then click Save.
To open a project that you recently saved
- On the Add pictures and video to the DVD page, click File, and then click a recent Windows DVD Maker project file at the bottom of the File menu.
